The systematic obstruction of education in the West Bank and Gaza by the Israeli military occupation, not only violates the basic human right to education, but is an orchestrated means of undermining and crippling the development of Palestinian society as a whole.

The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights - ratified by Israel in 1991 - underlines the fact that “Education is both a human right in itself and an indispensable means of realizing other human rights”.

The Right to Education Week aims to mobilise and strengthen partnerships between UK and Palestinian student bodies in order to highlight the severity of the situation, as well as build a solidarity movement that can begin to strategically challenge the prevalent injustices faced by Palestinian students.

We believe that the struggle for the Right to Education in Palestine on UK campuses is a crucial campaign that can highlight both the oppression suffered by Palestinians, as well as the reasons for that oppression.

Student representatives from the West Bank & Gaza will tour to the UK to engage with student bodies and pro-Palestine groups through a speaking tour of campuses. The tour, facilitated by Action Palestine and its affiliates will allow the Palestinian students to share their personal experiences and highlight the severe impact of Israeli occupation on their daily lives.

Full program of the week will avaialble on this page soon.
